Sagent Technology and USinternetworking Partner to Deliver First Outsourced Web-Based Data Marts
Business Wire, July 22, 1998
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1998--Sagent Technology, Inc., provider of the leading turnkey solution for bringing data marts to the Web, and USinternetworking, Inc. (USi), an Internet Computing Services(SM) (ICS) company, today announced a partnership to deliver data mart-based decision support solutions over the Internet based on a fixed monthly subscription price model.
These data mart solutions will offer rapid return on investment, low risk, and predictable price/performance at a fraction of the cost of deploying an inhouse system. The new partnership is targeting the web-enabled data warehousing segment of the emerging market for branded outsourcing services, which overall is expected to grow to a $21.1 billion business by 2001, according to Forrester Research, Inc.
Combining Sagent's turnkey decision support product, the Sagent(R) Data Mart Solution, with Sagent's comprehensive Professional Services and USi's global network of mission-critical Internet data center facilities, makes advanced data warehousing possible for a broader segment of the market than ever before.
Organizations can now focus on their competencies, rather than the technical issues associated with deploying a decision support effort. Only Sagent and USi supply a tightly integrated software solution, specialized knowledge, and world-class technical infrastructure, that takes taking the concept of turnkey functionality to a new level.
"Sagent and USi are offering a unique capability -- a fast, simple way to implement data marts without the risks, up-front costs, and 'headaches' of in-house IT projects," said Ken Gardner, president and CEO of Sagent Technology. "Just finding the scarce design and implementation expertise can be a barrier to IT implementations. Sagent and USi remove that barrier and also provide a sophisticated, reliable hosting infrastructure. If you have a PC with a modem connected to a phone line, we can do the rest. It really is that simple. And using Sagent's pre-built data mart templates, development is fast."
"The USi/Sagent partnership represents something revolutionary in the information technology marketspace," said Chris Poelma, senior executive vice president and chief technology officer at USi. "By combining USi's robust data center infrastructure and telecomputing capability with Sagent's applications and domain expertise in delivering turnkey data marts, implementations that have historically taken years to complete are compressed into tightly packaged 30 and 60 day deliverables."
