Business Wire, July 27, 1998

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1998--

HARBOR(R) Adds Support for Channel to Channel

Communication that supports Hitachi Data Systems

7700/7700E, Comparex's Tetragon 2200/2200E,

Bus-Tech's DataBlaster 2 and Polaris's PCI ESCON

Channel Interface

HARBOR(R) Systems Management, a leader in the enterprise storage management software market, today announced the availability of the HARBOR Microsoft Exchange Client 5.1 for Windows NT with added support for channel to channel (CTC) communication that supports Bus-Tech's DataBlaster 2, Comparex Tetragon, Hitachi 7700/7700E and the Polaris PCI ESCON Channel Interface.

These new CTC features provide higher throughput than TCP/IP and APPC while reducing the network load.

The HARBOR Microsoft Exchange Client 5.1 for Windows NT provides a high performance, reliable solution that is non-disruptive to end-users. It interfaces with Microsoft's BackOffice API simplifying the backup and recovery process of Microsoft Exchange servers through various features -- remote recovery capabilities, automatic scheduled backups and intelligent recovery selection. In addition, through the use of high-speed ESCON protocols and with point in time recovery, the HARBOR Microsoft Exchange Client 5.1 for Windows NT delivers greater control of data and storage resources, exclusive file level protection, availability, and reliability of mission critical information.

"HARBOR is working with Hitachi Data Systems, Comparex, Bus-Tech and Polaris to bring enterprise customers more powerful solutions for their Microsoft Exchange application," said Ben Dulley, president of HARBOR Systems Management. "HARBOR Microsoft Exchange Client 5.1 for NT is the ideal backup and recovery solution for Microsoft Exchange customers looking for non-disruptive data availability and easy management of their mission-critical mail system.

In addition to performing backups that are transparent to the day-to-day operations of the Microsoft Exchange server, HARBOR also provides centralized management. HARBOR provides a complete view of the Exchange environment and allows administrators to perform and monitor all backup and recovery operations from any machine running the HARBOR Microsoft Exchange Client. Alternatively, backup and recovery operations can be managed from the HARBOR host that resides on the IBM OS/390.
