NationsBanc Montgomery Hires Head of Private Equity Fund Placement Business

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 1998--NationsBanc Montgomery Securities LLC (NMS) today announced it has hired Mark Hallock as a Senior Managing Director and head of the private equity fund placement business. Hallock is based in New York and will work closely with the Financial Sponsor Coverage Group at NMS to identify and capitalize on fundraising opportunities.

Hallock will report to Derek Lemke, who also co-heads the Financial Sponsor Coverage Group.
Hallock has raised private equity funds for a number of clients including Doughty Hanson, FirstCorp Capital, Furman Selz Investors, Nordic Capital, Active Value Capital and NatWest Equity Partners. NationsBanc Montgomery's Private Equity Group has traditionally concentrated on raising capital for private companies. Last year, the group raised nearly $1 billion in 21 private placements. With the addition of Hallock, NationsBanc Montgomery will increase its focus on raising private equity funds for financial sponsors. The firm has already successfully raised funds for firms such as Fox Paine Capital, L.P. and Catterton-Simon Partners III, L.P.
Prior to joining NMS, Hallock had worked at Salomon Brothers in its private placement group since 1986. He had served as head of the group's private equity fundraising efforts since 1993.
Previously, Hallock worked at Citicorp from 1984 to 1986 in the U.S. securities group. He worked in the bond investment department of Aetna Life and Casualty before joining Citicorp. Hallock holds a master's degree in finance from Columbia Business School and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Cornell University.
