Cypress Names Chief Information Officer

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1998--Cypress Semiconductor Corporation today announced the appointment of Steven Chazan as chief information officer, reporting to vice president of finance and chief financial officer Manny Hernandez.

In his new role, Chazan will be responsible for all of Cypress's information systems including those in finance, marketing, and manufacturing. He will focus on providing database information and MIS support to the organization through web-based technology. Additionally, he will continue efforts to drive down IT procurement costs.

"Steve has the experience necessary to implement programs robust enough to support our current needs and future growth," said Manny Hernandez, chief financial officer. "His leadership and direction will ensure that our IT efforts are closely aligned with Cypress's business strategies."

Chazan brings over 18 years of progressive experience to his current position. Prior to joining Cypress, he served as director of information technology for Allied Telesyn International and NexGen. Before that, he spent two years as an MIS Director for Borland International. Chazan has also held various IS positions at LSI Logic and Watkins-Johnson Company.

Chazan holds a BA in applied mathematics and an MBA in management sciences, specializing in finance and accounting, from the University of California at Berkeley.
