Five Centennial HealthCare Facilities Receive JCAHO Accreditation

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 1998--Centennial HealthCare Corporation (Nasdaq/NM:CTEN) announced today that five of its long-term care facilities have achieved accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Of the five facilities, one received accreditation with commendation from the Commission. This is the highest accreditation level awarded by JCAHO. Only about 5% of all long-term care facilities are JCAHO accredited and, of these, only 11% are with commendations.

The five facilities include 196-bed River Hills South Health Care Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 140-bed Hurstbourne Care Centre at Stony Brook in Louisville, Kentucky; 296-bed Grant Park Care Center in Washington, DC; 219-bed Transitional Health Services of Clark County; and 112-bed Charter House of Farmington Hills in Farmington Hills, Michigan, which received accreditation with commendation, a significant accomplishment which recognizes exemplary performance.

Formed in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of the nation's health care by providing an independent assessment of the quality of care and services that exceed most federal and state requirements. Accreditation by JCAHO is a voluntary process, the goals of which are to ensure the highest standards of care, reduce patient risk, and create an environment for continuous improvement. The Centennial facilities received Joint Commission accreditation after an on-site review, which found that they had demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission's national standards for long-term care.
