One Small Step for Mankind — One Giant Leap for Making CDs At Home; Adaptec Launches The New Easy CD Creator Deluxe 3.5
Business Wire, June 16, 1998
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADPT) today announced the availability of the first major upgrade to its award-winning CD-Recording/ReWritable software, Easy CD Creator Deluxe.
The new software package will go where no CD-Recording package has gone before, delivering to consumers an easy way to put photos and videos onto CDs for distribution, safe-keeping, or just for fun.
"In the black and white history of CD-Recording, most individuals were using CD-Recording at work as a high-capacity, cheap backup and storage solution. Now, with the expanded abilities for photo albums, video postcards, and customized, personal party-CDs, it's like every living room has gone full color," says Dave Ulmer, general manager for the software products group at Adaptec.
"This market is expected to more than double this year, making it a truly exciting time for digital content creation in the home."
Easy CD Creator Deluxe 3.5 brings significant new features to consumers looking to make their own CDs.
What's New About Easy CD Creator Deluxe 3.5
One of Easy CD Creator Deluxe's hottest features has been CD Spin Doctor, an application that lets anyone turn any personal analog recording, such as LPs, tapes, or custom recordings, into digital CDs. Easy CD Creator Deluxe 3.5 helps these features leap into the future with new "real time" CD Spin Doctor, Sound Morph special effects capabilities, and the most impressive advancement -- PhotoRelay.
The enhanced CD Spin Doctor allows a user to clean-up the pops, hisses and scratches "on the fly," recording straight from LP or cassette to the CD, much like "dubbing" from one cassette to another. In addition, a user can "preview and adjust" the cleaned up audio track before actually starting the recording, allowing more flexibility and control of the recording.
CD Spin Doctor Sound Morph special effects lets consumers change the characteristics of their personal recordings with features such as GenderBlender, Metalizer, Concert Hall, Reverb, TalkBox, and TimeWarp that give their custom music a unique twist.
Finally, with PhotoRelay, the sky is the limit for consumer creativity. Now users can take digital images and videos to create "digital Photo Albums" that can be organized and saved to a CD in a Slide Show, Web Album (HTML), or Video Postcard format. This is a key development for individuals looking for cool new ways to store and share family photos and videos as well as for businesses that want to share true multimedia content.
