SkyTel Customers Can Wirelessly Leverage Power of Lotus Notes From the Palm of Their Hand
Business Wire, June 16, 1998
JACKSON, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--SkyTel customers using the PageWriter(TM) 2000 no longer have to be in their office to compose, send, receive and reply to corporate e-mail. Furthermore, they can decide which e-mail messages will be forwarded to their PageWriter 2000 whenever and wherever they choose, all thanks to the availability of Motorola's email VClient(TM) for Lotus Notes(TM).
With email VClient, a SkyTel user can forward Lotus Notes e-mail messages to his pager using filters to select which messages, which parts of messages and how many characters will be forwarded. With the email VClient software, users now can activate or change a number of filters directly from the PageWriter 2000 rather than the desktop, tailoring the flow of information at any moment that their needs change.
"VClient gives people more control over their business by allowing them to manage the flow of information on the fly," said Dan Shine, director of advanced applications for SkyTel Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: SKYT). "They can now control their e-mail world rather than just react to it."
The email VClient application, which SkyTel helped Motorola test and refine, represents part of a growing movement of third party vendors using SkyTel's nationwide advanced messaging network.
"VClient is a business-focused application that truly leverages the capabilities of the SkyTel network," Shine said. "We continue to work closely with developers to create new uses for the network, improving the ways people communicate and access data, ultimately making their lives easier."
The PageWriter 2000 is available from SkyTel for $360, with a monthly fee of $24.95. To order, call 1-800-643-0323.

More information about the company is available at www.skytel.com.
