Top Honors for Best Online Sports Site and Best Online News or Sports Story

SanDiegoInsider.com received four awards Wednesday from the Society of Professional Journalists, including first place for Best Sports Site and Best News or Sports Story, and second place for General Excellence in the Online category.

SanDiegoInsider.com Sports Producer John Freeman accepted the first-place award for Best Sports Site. "It's a fun site, with good interactivity and tons of good information," the judges wrote.

Also taking first-place honors was Bonnie Nicholls, SanDiegoInsider.com's news producer, in the category of Best News or Sports Story. Nicholls' entry, "Road Rage," "offers good research and advice on a scary event that could happen to anyone on the road."

SanDiegoInsider.com also received the second-place award for General Excellence and an honorable mention for Best News Site.
