StarQuest Software Awarded GSA Contract; StarQuest's family of standards-based data access middleware now available for purchase under the federal government's GSA Schedule

BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 1998--StarQuest Software, Inc., the leading developer of Windows and UNIX connectivity products for IBM mainframe and midrange systems, announced today that its standards-based data access products are now available via the federal government's GSA schedule.

The StarQuest GSA contract is effective immediately and runs until March 31 1999, with renewal options for three additional years. Through the GSA, all federal, state and city agencies, are assured the lowest negotiated prices on products.

StarQuest products represented on the GSA schedule include:

-- StarSQL Pro, data access middleware that provides fast, direct access to IBM's DB2 relational databases from any Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)-compliant desktop application.

-- StarPipes, which enables client-based applications to access IBM databases using TCP/IP, thereby giving users unmatched choice in selecting their network protocol for remote database access.

-- Client Access For UNIX OS, an integrated connectivity solution for UNIX and IBM AS/400 systems that uses TCP/IP to provide high-speed access to AS/400 data and applications without compromising the data integrity and security of the AS/400.

-- Star5250 for Windows, which provides full-featured IBM 5250 terminal emulation for seamless communication between PCs and IBM AS/400 and System/36. Systems connected via either SNA or TCP/IP can access data and applications on the AS/400.
