RELM Wireless Corporation Announces Contract Award by the United States Forest Service

Twelve Months -
RELM Wireless Corporation (NASDAQ: RELM) today announced a two-year contract award from the United States Forest Service under which the Company will supply the agency with four families of Land Mobile Radios used in conjunction with fighting and preventing forest fires. Shipments against this new contract will commence in the third quarter. The Company believes that this contract will result in total revenues of $6-$7 million over the next twelve months.
During the past two years, RELM has supplied the Forest Service with three of its requirements under a contract that expired in May 1998. Under the new contract, RELM will supply both the standard radios used by the Rangers and a fourth, newly developed high performance radio to replace a product previously supplied by another vendor. This will have the effect of increasing the commitment by approximately 20% over the previous one.
