SAN FRANCISCO--(BW HealthWire)--June 30, 1998--ABC 7 presents a special look into the nation's largest AIDS fund-raiser, The California AIDS Ride.
"Ride for Life: The California AIDS Ride," is an hour-long documentary that airs Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 25 at 4 p.m. The documentary follows more than 2600 cyclists as they pedal the 572 mile route from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for HIV/AIDS related services. This year's Ride grossed more than $9.5 million, with net proceeds benefiting the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Join ABC 7 as we explore the challenges, teamwork and logistics of the Ride, as well as the motivation behind the cyclists taking part in this unique journey.
The individuals involved in the California AIDS Ride encompass every race, age group, religious background and sexual orientation. Their reasons for riding are as diverse as they are, but they are united in their goal to raise money and awareness in the fight against AIDS.
