Informix Makes Aggressive Offer For Windows NT Applications; Informix Dynamic Server Database Software Licenses Released Free; Brings Tremendous Value to NT Developers

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1998--In a bold move to increase its presence in the Windows NT market, Informix Corporation (NASDAQ:IFMX), the leading provider of enterprise database-driven technology, today announced that it will distribute free of charge its Informix(R) Dynamic Server(tm) database software to NT developers to drive the development of new NT applications.
The company's aggressive initiative will offer a free development license of its database software, as well as 50 free deployment licenses per end user site, to developers who build Informix database applications on NT.
"We want to aggressively stimulate the development of NT applications on the Informix database platform," said Joe Niemann, vice president of Channels, Informix.
"With today's announcement, we deliver on our commitment to be a serious player in the fast-growing NT market. This initiative provides huge value and incentive for NT developers who are existing or new to Informix to leverage the reliability, scalability and serviceability of our Dynamic Server database on NT."
Informix Target NT -- A Dynamite Offer for Application Developers
The Informix Target NT Initiative will provide free development licenses for NT developers to build database applications on Informix Dynamic Server. Free Informix technical support will be offered for 60 days on these development licenses. Up to 50 deployment licenses per end user site will also be offered at no cost.
Maintenance support contracts for the deployment licenses will be available to developers at an attractive price of $5,000 dollars. This offer is effective June 15, 1998.
Developers may register and download Informix Dynamic Server on NT at Informix's Developer Network web site at www.informix.com/idn. Developers receive free development licenses until Dec. 31, 1998. Free deployment licenses will be available through Dec. 31, 1999.

Informix's family of Dynamic Server databases are available today on NT and offers the highest scalability for competitive advantage on that platform. Informix Dynamic Server provides full feature UNIX/NT parity on a one to one basis providing developers with the best platform for integrating systems.
Applications can transparently access and integrate data, and execute transactions across NT and UNIX. Organizations can leverage DBA and developer skills across the enterprise, through the use of Informix's common systems management, development tools and programming interfaces.
