AirTouch Expands California Connection Services To San Diego; AirTouch customers can now enjoy benefits of an all-Southern California home calling area
Business Wire, March 23, 1998
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1998--AirTouch Southern California announced today that it expanded its AirTouch California Connection(R) service to its digital customers in San Diego.
California Connection is the name for AirTouch's all-Southern California home calling area. AirTouch has already been offering this service to all AirTouch customers in the five-county Los Angeles region for more than five years.
AirTouch California Connection offers customers the longest cellular calling area in Southern California, which means that AirTouch customers can talk on their wireless phones from San Luis Obispo to the Mexican Border at their local airtime rates. AirTouch also offers customers the ability to use their phones in thousands of cities throughout the United States and Canada.
"We've found that most wireless users are frequent regional roamers," said Nancy Hobbs, executive vice president and general manager of AirTouch-Southern California. "Because of the popularity of California Connection in the Los Angeles area, we expanded the home calling rates to our Powerband digital customers in San Diego."
Calls made from the California Connection region to locations outside of Southern California, but still in the state, will have a long distance charge of only 10 cents per minute and calls to locations outside of the state cost 20 cents per minute.
AirTouch Communications is a global wireless communications company, with interests in cellular, paging, and personal communications services in the United States, Belgium, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden, as well as an interest in the Globalstar satellite system.
