COM2001 Technologies, PIKA Technologies Announce Strategic Partnership to Deliver Next Generation Internet/Computer Telephony Solutions

Business Wire, March 4, 1998

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1998--

COM2001 NTX Enterprise Communications Server for Windows NT Employs Sophisticated PIKA Daytona Boards for Telephony Services

COM2001 Technologies Inc., the leader in the development of advanced Internet/Computer Telephony solutions, Wednesday announced a strategic partnership with PIKA Technologies Inc., a leading designer and developer of CTI cards, to incorporate PIKA's Daytona 8x16 board into the design of the COM2001 NTX (Network Telephony Xchange) family of Microsoft Windows NT server-based computer telephony and unified messaging products. COM2001 has previously announced that the COM2001 NTX products may be factory-integrated by Digital Equipment Corp. and will be distributed by Inacom Communications.

"Our customers demand a stable, feature-rich, cost-effective communications solution," said David Perez, president of COM2001. "And PIKA's proven technology is a key component in our ability to deliver such a solution. We're very pleased to be working closely with PIKA to implement their current and future technologies."

COM2001's flagship product, the COM2001 NTX Enterprise Communications Server (ECS), which incorporates PIKA boards, is recognized by leading trade publications for its feature completeness and technical superiority. NTX ECS delivers the features in highest demand by customers, including a telephone switch with conference bridge, auto attendant with speech recognition, unified messaging for voice mail, e-mail and fax, and voice-enabled personal assistant services, which allow users to speak to the NTX ECS from any standard or wireless telephone to place calls, listen and respond to voice messages, e-mails, and faxes (using text-to-speech), find addresses and phone numbers, and get real-time forwarding of important calls and messages to multiple locations -- all without any additional monthly fees.

"PIKA is committed to delivering the finest PC-PBX capabilities in the industry," said Chris Forester, vice president of sales and marketing for PIKA Technologies. "In COM2001, we have found the innovative technology leader that is incorporating our technology into best-of-breed solutions for the market. It's a perfect fit."

PIKA's technical contributions include:

- Digital Signal Processor (DSP) based hardware architecture.

- AllOnBoard DSP technologies, allowing multiple CT functions to coexist on the same card simultaneously, including 14.4 fax, full digital line balanced conference capabilities, and Caller ID.

- The MonteCarlo API for fax, voice, and conferencing common to all PIKA boards.
