Business Wire, March 6, 1998
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1998--H.E.R.C. Products Inc. (NASDAQ Small Cap: HERC) Friday announced the completion of the first half of a fire sprinkler system pipe cleaning contract at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, with Grinnell Fire Protection Systems Company utilizing HERC's patented Pipe Klean(R) technology.
The contract was awarded to Grinnell which subcontracted the cleaning portion of $100,000 to H.E.R.C. pursuant to a teaming agreement between the two companies. This is the second project performed by H.E.R.C. at the McCarran Airport.
S. Steven Carl, chairman and chief executive officer of H.E.R.C. commented, "We are excited to be working with Grinnell Fire Protection at the McCarran Airport. We believe this could be one of many opportunities H.E.R.C. will have to work together with Grinnell on Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) in fire protection systems across the United States.
"MIC is emerging as a very large problem being assessed by the National Fire Sprinkler Association, National Fire Protection Association, the American Fire Sprinkler Association and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. Although this contract is smaller than what we could expect in the future, it represents a significant step toward H.E.R.C. becoming a player in this emerging industry."
"We believe that the cleaning of fire protection systems market could be a significant opportunity for our patented pipe cleaning technology and processes," Carl continued. "The emergence of MIC as a significant problem in American fire sprinkler systems, and the developing relationship with Grinnell, would uniquely position HERC as a provider of this type of service."
H.E.R.C. Products Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets products, and provides services, that eliminate and control scaling and tuberculation on surfaces that come into contact with water through the Company's wholly owned subsidiary H.E.R.C.
