SDRC Announces Support of Intel Architecture and Microsoft Windows NT Workstations
Business Wire, March 6, 1998
CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1998--Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (NASDAQ:SDRC) today announced its new Windows NT(R) strategy for enterprise product development. Details of the new strategy were announced at the Workstation Leadership Forum `98 in Seattle, Washington, sponsored by Intel and Microsoft(R).
The announcement described SDRC's capabilities for providing today's manufacturers with a Windows NT solution environment for automating the enterprise product development process for mechanical products. The strategy includes training, distribution and support for new customers implementing CAD/CAM/CAE solutions for the first time or customers migrating from existing UNIX-based systems.
The strategy encompasses support of Windows NT with SDRC's two main CAD/CAM/CAE product offerings, I-DEAS Master Series(TM) and I-DEAS Artisan Series(TM), as well as its industry-leading product data management offering, Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM). SDRC has seen a significant rise in customer demands for Windows NT-based solutions, driven by price/performance, standardization and the single desktop advantages inherent with SDRC solutions operating on Windows NT workstations. As a result, SDRC is continuing to place increased emphasis on its Windows NT offerings, first introduced in 1995.
Intel-based workstations with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 are powerful desktop systems for technical computing that enhance productivity and reduce computing costs. This combination offers superior performance and combines the ease of use of Windows 95(R) with the reliability and security of Windows NT.
"Customers buying I-DEAS and Metaphase are putting us on the critical path," said Bill Carrelli, SDRC's Vice President of Marketing. "Windows NT workstations enable a company to get significant computing power on their desktop and in front of more people. Demand for SDRC's products on Windows NT is increasing at a rapid rate. This is driving SDRC to provide a full portfolio of products on the industry-leading Windows NT platforms with UNIX interoperability."
From concept design through manufacturing and product evaluation, I-DEAS provides customers with the advanced functionality they need to get their products to market faster. This is why so many of the world's most successful companies -- manufacturers such as Ford Motor Company, Mazda Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Corporation, Renault, Siemens and Xerox -- have recently standardized on SDRC's software solutions. I-DEAS Master Series, I-DEAS Artisan Series and Metaphase Enterprise are available on all industry-leading Windows NT platforms.
SDRC is a leading international supplier of Mechanical Design Automation and Testing software, Product Data Management software, and related services. The Company's products and services help manufacturers optimize product concepts early in the design process, enabling them to significantly improve product quality while reducing product development time and costs. SDRC employs about 2,030 people and has 64 offices in 16 countries throughout North America, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific region.
