Burr-Brown Extends Industry-Leading Family of Instrumentation Amplifiers
Business Wire, May 15, 1998
TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1998--Burr-Brown Corporation (NASDAQ:BBRC) today announced the low cost INA121, a low power, wide supply range, FET-input instrumentation amplifier (INA) offering outstanding accuracy--ideal for amplifying low-level output signals from industrial or biological sensors and high impedance nodes within test equipment.
The INA121 is used for boosting the output of transducers in industrial applications such as high resistance temperature RTDs and pressure bridges, capacitive bridges, piezoelectric crystals, and thermocouples using large input resistors for filtering. In medical applications, the INA121 is well suited to amplify signals used in ECG (electrocardiogram) and EEG (electroencephalograph) biomedical measurement instruments.
"Designers can now get improved signal quality and superb electrical noise rejection from high impedance sources without paying a premier price," said John Brown, strategic marketing engineer at Burr-Brown. "The INA121 not only provides designers with outstanding performance in a small package it does so with low power consumption needed in portable and battery powered systems. Now, those who thought they couldn't afford a precision FET-input instrumentation amp will be surprised that the INA121 is comparably priced versus today's discrete op amp solutions."
The INA121 features wide supply range ( /-2.25V to /-18V), low quiescent current ( /-450 micro-amps), low offset voltage ( /-200 micro-volts), low offset drift ( 2 micro-volts/degrees Celsius), low noise (20nV/sqrt(Hz) at 1kHz), high CMR (106dB), low nonlinearity error (0.001% max), and input protection to /-40V.
INA121 is priced from $2.35 in 1000s and available in industry-standard 8-pin DIP and SO-8 surface-mount packages. It is specified for the -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius industrial temperature range. Delivery is from stock.
