FEATURE/Walking for Fitness is Ultra-Cool This Summer With Teva's New Power-Walking Sandal
Business Wire, May 27, 1998
GOLETA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--May 27, 1998--Walking is a great way to stay in shape -- just ask any of the 36 million Americans who walk for fitness.
Now, as summer heats up, walkers can keep their feet cool by switching from walking shoes to lighter, cooler walking sandals. Sandals? Absolutely.
Teva, the innovator of sports sandals, has developed the world's first performance-walking sandal, the Circuit. The sandal keeps feet cool and un-cramped, and its patented technology provides the support, shock absorption and fashion that fitness walkers demand.
At just a fraction of the weight of a traditional walking shoe, the Circuit permits open air flow to keep walkers' feet cool and free, even in strenuous exercise. The Circuit was designed exclusively for women, and is available in four styles, sizes 5 - 11.
Regardless of the wearer's flexibility range, the Circuit allows for a precise and perfect fit each time the sandal is worn. It caters to the natural motion and strike of the foot, ensuring a square landing on the heel and providing stride-acceleration into the next step.
Teva Circuit will be available in sporting goods, walking and specialty footwear stores nationwide in June 1998 (including Nordstrom, Foot Locker, REI and L.L. Bean). Three models have nylon woven-jacquard web straps and feature a stylish white, athletic-influenced sole and mid-sole; the designs are Aqua Ticking, Diagonal Blue and Diagonal Earth.
The Chocolate Leather model has a more traditional Teva look with a dark brown mid-sole and chocolate-colored sole. Suggested retail is $69.95 for the nylon; $74.95 for the leather model.
About Teva
Teva was founded in 1983 by Colorado River guide Mark Thatcher who invented the Teva Sports Sandal, the world's first amphibious footwear. Its unique system for securing the sandals tightly to the feet for performance application became enormously popular, and much copied by major sports shoe manufacturers.
Teva remains the favorite sports sandal for men, women and children. The company also designs and markets apparel for high-performance sports, and outdoor and casual lifestyle activities.
Teva is a Hebrew word meaning "nature" and is pronounced with the soft "e" sound like in the word "left" (not with a hard "e" sound -- "teeva"). For more information, refer to the company's Web site: www.teva.com or call 800/FOR-TEVA.
