DataMark/Digital Courier Merger Progresses; Hambrecht and Quist Technology Conference Brings Attention to Digital Courier Development Projects

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 1998--DataMark Holding Inc., doing business as Digital Courier Technologies, (NASDAQ:DCTI) Monday announced that the recent activity in its stock is not due to material news or new developments.

The company announced a merger with Digital Courier Technologies Inc. of San Francisco on March 18. The transaction is expected to close upon stockholder approval at a special meeting to be held in June.

"As more people become aware of our business plan and the sophisticated Internet transaction technology that Digital Courier has been developing for some time, there seems to be increasing interest in our stock," said Mitchell Edwards, executive vice president/ finance and legal. "We have no new developments, other than continued progress on the technology we are developing."

Officers of Digital Courier discussed the business plan at the Hambrecht and Quist Technology Conference in San Francisco last week. While no specific developments have occurred, the merger with DataMark and company's transaction driven on-line business strategy has been praised by the investment community as having solid long-term performance potential.

Digital Courier is a Java-based Internet and wireless communications software development company. The company designs and develops software solutions for electronic commerce, financial services, supply chain management and consumer information.

The software is platform and device independent to accommodate the Internet as well as mobile devices and second generation consumer information appliances. The company's WorldNow subsidiary has developed a network of television station websites, and its Books Now subsidiary builds branded virtual bookstores on the Internet.
