January Orlando Coin Auction Offers 42 Trompeter Proof Gold Eagles
Business Wire, Nov 13, 1998
ORLANDO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1998--Heritage Numismatic Auctions will auction the incredible and complete With Motto proof Liberty $10 series (every date from 1866 through 1907) from the Ed Trompeter estate, unreserved, in Orlando, Florida, January 6-8, 1999. Heritage purchased America's greatest collection of proof gold coinage last August for $15,177,500, the first eight-figure private transaction in numismatic history.
Trompeter's Estate contained less than 250 coins, all U.S. gold, including a unique set of six 1872 'Amazonian' patterns, possibly the world's single most valuable numismatic item. Heritage sold 24 Trompeter $5, $10, & $20 matte proofs September 24-25, 1998 in Long Beach, California. Many realized record prices. Other Trompeter selections will be offered private treaty and in upcoming auctions. -0-
