FT/S&P Actuaries World Index — Merger of Stone Container with Jefferson Smurfit — USA

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 1998--The FT/S&P-Actuaries World Index Committee announces that following the merger of Stone Container with Jefferson Smurfit Corp., (not currently in the World Index) the newly created company, Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation will replace Stone Container in the index with a total of 214,925,521 shares.

The above change is effective on 19 November 1998.
