Resounding Technology Debuts Roger Wilco Internet Voice Radio for Multiplayer Online Games

Business Wire, Nov 2, 1998

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 1998--

Four Players Supported in Initial Release;

Technology Preview Now Available for Download

Resounding Technology Inc. today announced the debut of Roger Wilco, a standalone application that allows cybergamers to talk to each other while playing their favorite multiplayer online games, such as Quake II, DIABLO and StarCraft.

Roger Wilco is an unobtrusive companion technology that enables players to talk to each other instead of typing messages. In its initial release, Roger Wilco supports up to four players without requiring a dedicated server -- just install and talk.

Roger Wilco makes it possible for cybergamers to communicate with each other without interrupting the game. When other players speak, their transmissions are mixed with the game audio. Unlike Internet phone programs, Roger Wilco is designed specifically for running alongside Internet multiplayer online games without requiring an additional soundcard.

"Everyone was saying that voice communication would be the next big trend in gaming," said Tony "Tone" Lovell, product designer at Resounding Technology. "Roger Wilco, which was designed specifically for multiplayer online games, runs alongside almost every game and endows each with a voice radio feature. Voice is here today with Roger Wilco. Over and out."

Technology Preview Now Available

Roger Wilco is currently in beta test. A free "technology preview" is immediately available for download from the Web site at www.resounding.com.

System Requirements

Roger Wilco works with most Windows 95/98 games that use DirectSound. It requires a microphone and a soundcard capable of full-duplex audio. It also requires a Pentium 166 or better processor, 2 MB disk space and at least a 28.8K modem. A complete list of compatible sound cards and games is available on the Web site at www.resounding.com.
