Granite Construction Awarded $10.6 Million Highway Contract

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1998--Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded a $10.6 million contract by the California Department of Transportation to replace and overlay approximately 11 miles of Interstate 80 east of Sacramento.
The project consists of the replacement of existing sections of Interstate 80 with asphalt concrete and the placement of an asphalt concrete overlay. Scope of the work includes approximately 250,000 tons of asphalt concrete. Construction is underway and will take approximately 12 months to complete.
