IDC Reports WRQ Quadruples Share in Mainframe/Multihost Market; WRQ's Market Share Increased by 400 percent in One Year
Business Wire, Nov 4, 1998
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1998--WRQ, Inc., makers of Reflection(R), Express and @Guard software, today reported that a recent study by International Data Corporation (IDC) reveals WRQ's market share in the mainframe/multihost segment of the host access market quadrupled in 1997, while share of many competing vendors declined or remained flat during the same period.
According to IDC, "WRQ is the big winner in the mainframe/multihost segment...WRQ's tremendous growth over 1996 is credit to its ability to leverage its roots in the IP market and successfully offer integrated SNA and IP solutions." (Stephen Drake, IDC, #16834, 8/98).
"Our growth in this highly established market speaks volumes about our ability to differentiate based on products, service and long-term vision for host access," said Chris Bradley, host access market manager at WRQ. "The mainframe is clearly not dead -- the large majority of corporate data still resides on mainframes. The IDC report confirms we're on target with our mission for Reflection(R) to provide the right data to the right people in the right form, while reducing costs."
WRQ recently delivered significant upgrades to its family of Reflection host access products, which provide secure desktop access to IBM mainframe, AS/400, UNIX, X, Digital, and Hewlett-Packard systems with terminal emulation, NT/UNIX integration, and advanced networking applications. The Reflection product line upgrades are unique in offering Reflection Hands-Free Administration(tm), a set of features and tools that reduce IT management burden and costs through simplified deployment, configuration and increased control over corporate networks.
"We chose WRQ because they offer consistently high-quality solutions and support," said Fred Aabedi, lead technology architect at Los Angeles-based Optimatrix Health Solutions, Inc. "As IT specialists, the solutions we recommend to our customers reflect heavily on us, so it's critical to work with vendors like WRQ, whose expertise we can count on."
