Brio Technology Announces Support for SAP's Business Information Warehouse
Business Wire, Nov 6, 1998
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1998--Brio Technology (Nasdaq:BRYO), the enterprise business intelligence company, today announced its commitment to deliver native support for SAP's Business Information Warehouse(BW).
The Brio Enterprise suite of business intelligence products -- which already includes support for OLE DB for OLAP -- will be optimized for the SAP BW application programming interface (API).
Articulating the company's vision for helping customers turn corporate data into business intelligence, Brio President and CEO Yorgen Edholm said, "We've been working for some time with customers of SAP and other ERP vendors to create business intelligence solutions that truly meet their needs. With support for SAP BW, thousands of world-class companies which run their businesses with SAP R/3 can rely on Brio Enterprise to provide fast, easy access to critical corporate data."
"Brio is today delivering business intelligence from data warehouses built with SAP R/3 data for global corporations like Hewlett-Packard and Motorola, so we understand the importance of adding native support for the SAP BW API," added Chris Grejtak, executive vice president for marketing at Brio Technology.
"We've already done a significant amount of work with OLE DB for OLAP and will be able to leverage that investment as SAP makes the SAP BW API generally available. Our intent is to provide optimized support for BW early in 1999."
The Business Information Warehouse is an end-to-end data warehouse solution developed by SAP which gives knowledge workers rapid access to data from SAP systems, other enterprise applications and from external sources such as content providers. Brio's technical integration with SAP BW -- using Microsoft's OLE DB for OLAP extensions -- will enable organizations to use Brio's enterprise business intelligence products for query, analysis and reporting against SAP BW.
Already a leader in providing solutions which leverage data access standards, Brio offered the first commercially available integration with OLE DB for OLAP for business intelligence products (http://www.brio.com/press/0428.ole_db.html).
