Genesis Energy L.P. Acquires Crude Oil Pipelines From Equilon Pipeline Company LLC
Business Wire, Oct 1, 1998
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1998--Genesis Energy L.P. (NYSE:GEL) announced today that Genesis Pipeline Texas L.P., and Equilon Pipeline Company LLC closed the purchase by Genesis of Equilon's West Columbia Pipeline System. This acquisition will increase Genesis' pipeline miles approximately 20% and add more than 20,000 barrels per day to its current throughput.
The system begins in Jackson County, about 125 miles southwest of Houston, and ends at Genesis' Webster Station in southern Harris County. It consists of approximately 200 miles of 4" to 8" diameter gathering and trunkline pipelines and 500 thousand barrels of tankage.
The system currently gathers and transports two types of crude oil -- "A" grade lube and Gulf Coast Light Sweet. The connection of this pipeline to Genesis' existing system will allow additional markets to be accessed by shippers. The West Columbia Pipeline System is located in areas strategic to Genesis' existing crude oil marketing, gathering and transportation operations.
Genesis Energy L.P., through its subsidiaries, operates crude oil common carrier pipelines and is one of the largest independent gatherers and marketers of crude oil in North America, with operations concentrated in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Equilon Pipeline Company LLC is an affiliate of Equilon Enterprises LLC, the joint venture company of Shell's and Texaco's refining, marketing and transportation businesses.
