Inprise Integrates Sun's Java Web Server Into Its Enterprise Application Server; Inprise Application Server Helps Leading Enterprises Maximize ROI and Minimize Risks in IT Resources
Business Wire, Oct 12, 1998
SYDNEY, Australia & ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 1998--Inprise Corporation (Nasdaq:INPR), a premier provider of integration software and services to leading enterprises, today announced that it is integrating Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s 100% Pure Java(TM) Java(TM) Web Server(TM) into Inprise's enterprise application server suite, set for launch in December. Today's announcement was made at Inprise's annual Asia/Pacific user conference in Australia -- and the GartnerGroup Symposium/ITxpo in Orlando, Florida, the IT industry's largest strategic executive conference.
"Enterprises are out of the `roll-your-own' business of creating proprietary, labyrinthine, unmanageable IT infrastructures," said Marc H. Rudov, Inprise vice president of enterprise marketing. "They have concluded that the only way to compete in this rapidly changing world is to have standardized, flexible, upgradable foundations of information technology. The Inprise Application Server, with this 100% Pure Java Internet interface, meets these business objectives by offering universal platform neutrality in operating heterogeneous enterprise environments."
Sun's Java Web Server enables users of the Inprise Application Server to deploy high-performance, extensible, and easy-to-administer Internet-based, platform-independent enterprise applications. The Inprise Application Server is also planned to ship with Java Servlet support for Netscape, Microsoft, and Apache Web servers - and all HTML clients.
"Sun and Inprise share the common goal of providing high-quality, robust solutions to our enterprise customers based upon open, industry standards," said Jonathan Schwartz, director of enterprise products group at Sun Microsystems, Inc. "The integration of Sun's award-winning Java Web Server into the Inprise Application Server will provide enterprises with a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for building and managing secure Internet and intranet applications."
