Initiated in 1992, CPI Consulting's multiple subscriber study, Chemical Industry Analysis, is an on-going program aimed at analyzing the structure, dynamics, competition and strategic issues in the chemical industry. The CIA program develops comprehensive analyses of 20 major chemical business areas (comprising over 100 chemicals) and 50 key chemical companies, providing an integrated viewpoint of the industry from these two perspectives.
The reports contained in the CIA program are based on CPI Consulting's Chemical Industry Material BALance (CIMBal(tm)) database/model. This database currently comprises over 900 chemicals, chemical groups, end uses and plant types; 2,100 chemical companies, JVs and subsidiaries; 2,500 locations; and 11,000 plants (processing units). In addition to individual plant capacity and production statistics, the database is used to simulate the integration of petrochemical complexes and to model acquisition and divestiture scenarios.
An Internet version of CIMBal(tm) (available at http://www.cpiconsulting.com) includes both demo and fee-for-service capabilities and provides direct access to selected dynamically-created chemical industry product reports as well as detailed characterizations of company manufacturing positions including plant capacities, product integration and material balance data, with text and schematic descriptions of major manufacturing sites designed to aid in understanding the database reports.
