Pony Express Buys Courier Express

Business Wire, Oct 14, 1998

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OCT. 14, 1998--Pony Express Delivery Services, Inc. today announced the purchase of Courier Express, Inc., a Los Angeles-based delivery service company. The acquisition of Courier Express enables Pony Express to expand its service to Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

Now a wholly owned subsidiary of Pony Express, Courier Express will continue to provide same-day and next-day ground delivery service. Richard (Dick) Williams presides as President of both companies.

Said Pony Express President Dick Williams, "Pony Express and Courier Express are similar in their delivery structures, allowing us to take advantage of the networks presently established. The purchase of Courier Express brings us into areas of the western United States previously untapped by Pony Express. We are now able to offer our customers a greater service area, increased densities in existing operations, and the same top-notch delivery standards to which they've become accustomed. We are enthusiastic about the acquisition, and are confident this will allow us to better service our existing clientele."

The Courier Express acquisition brings the total number of states serviced by Pony Express to 35, and adds 32 Courier Express offices to the presently expansive Pony Express network.

Already the nation's largest regional ground delivery service, Pony Express handles over 28 million packages annually. Through a network of over 143 offices nationwide in 35 states, Pony Express specializes in same-day, next-day and ExpressLane expedited "hot shot" deliveries. Serving the business-to-business customer, Pony Express has the network and personnel to meet your company's needs.
