Business Wire, Oct 16, 1998
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1998--Jones Business Systems Inc. (JBS), a national system integrator and value-add distributor, announced the addition of Compaq Computer Corporation to its line of server solutions. JBS Inc. is based in Houston, Texas, with offices in Costa Mesa, Columbus, Kansas City, Dallas, New York, Sioux City and Westboro, Mass. The company's services-rich approach to value-add distribution has put them in a leadership position in delivering a wide range of enterprise technologies to its national reseller base.
"Our agreement with Compaq is a perfect fit. The Compaq server line complements our already strong presence in the SCO UNIX, Informix, Microsoft NT and Citrix space. Our focus with Compaq will be on the mid-to-high end system integration segment of the reseller market, where we expect to be a market leader within 12 months," Scott Shadle, JBS president, said.
"SCO has long enjoyed successful relationships with both Compaq and JBS, and we applaud their new strategic business initiative," stated Sheila Baker, VP U.S. Channel Sales for SCO. "We look forward to ensuring our customers that SCO's UNIX operating systems, Compaq's servers and JBS' world-class integration expertise will be a reliable foundation for the advanced solutions that enterprise customers demand."
According to Jones Business Systems, the addition of Compaq also strengthens the position of the organization's Thin/Client-Server Computing Division. The TCSC Division is working with traditional Unix and legacy system VARs and assisting them as they implement thin-client/server computing solutions for their vertical applications.
"JBS has made a large investment in promoting thin-client/server technology," stated Cecil Dye, senior vice president of sales for Network Computing Devices Inc. "NCD views the commitment by JBS to Thin Clients and Thin Client servers to support this new cost of ownership model as leadership by a key Distributor providing competitive IT solutions to their customers. We see the addition of Compaq as a logical way for JBS to support the integration of thin-client/server computing with traditional enterprise computing infrastructures."
