Avidyne Corporation today announced that the Avidyne Flight Situation Display (FSD) is now available on Mooney Aircraft Corporation's Bravo and Ovation aircraft. By offering Avidyne's fully TSO-certified Flight Situation Display software, Mooney is providing its customers with the most advanced, highly flexible solution for clearly displaying and managing vital flight, weather and navigation information.

Avidyne's FSD includes the following capabilities:

-- Avidyne Navigator--is a complete vector graphic, database-driven

moving map display and GPS navigation management system that

provides unparalleled situational awareness. Powered by an

internal database of Jeppesen NavData, Navigator provides

numerous functions for the complete navigation picture including:

display of ETE/ETA, on-screen CDI, continuously updated nearest

airport information, complete airport diagrams and airway

intersections. Navigator also offers a declutter function which

allows pilots to select the level of detail displayed for use in

crowded terminal areas.

-- Avidyne Charts--provides pilots with moving maps, which feature

digitized versions of IFR and VFR charts, plus electronic

depictions of navigation situations including course lines,

victor airways, VORs and airports. The digitized maps include NOS

(High and Low Altitude), IFR enroute charts and VFR charts (WACs,

Sectionals, and Terminals). All moving maps have the capability

to zoom in or out, and are automatically positioned relative to

the aircraft's position and track.

-- Avidyne Lightning--displays lightning data from a remotely

mounted BF Goodrich Stormscope(R) WX-500 sensor providing

unmatched situational awareness for areas of convective activity.

Pilots can view traditional Stormscope functions plus

color-contoured weather views which analyze strike rates, density

and dissipation, enabling pilots to easily identify areas to

avoid. Lightning also offers a 30-minute history of lightning

activity, which is geo-referenced for an accurate interpretation

of lightning threats.

The Avidyne FSD will be installed with a CD-ROM, enabling pilots to quickly and efficiently update charts and navigational data. The CD-ROM may also be connected to the aircraft's audio panel, allowing pilots to listen to their favorite music on compact discs while in flight.
