Strategies for Collecting and Using Enterprise Data
The MIT Enterprise Forum today announced its October 10-250 Case Presentation will focus on areas of business intelligence and knowledge management, and challenges faced by companies that collect, manage and use corporate data to enhance their business opportunities.
The presentation will feature First Albany Corporation's Technology Research Group Vice President, Rob Tholomeier. Mr. Tholomeier will discuss different strategies that are utilized by various industries to harness information, de-mystify terms that are frequently used in today's industry including, "data warehousing," "data mining" and "OLAP," and review how companies are using techniques to dramatically impact their business opportunities.
The second half of the forum will feature Garrett Knight, CEO of Retail Expert, Inc. Retail Expert, based in Woburn, MA has developed an enterprise-wide software application that is currently sold in the retail industry. Mr. Knight will address organization issues encountered when filtering through accumulated data and information, and will talk about Retail Expert's software products that change information into "key performance indicators."
Panelists will include Michael T. Fitzgerald, Partner of Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Judith Larocque, CEO of Market Perspectives, Inc. and James A. McGowana, a retail executive.
The presentation will take place at MIT Lecture Hall 10-250, 77 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, on Wednesday, October 14, 1998, from 6 - 9 p.m. Registration at the door is $10 for members (including Retailers Association of Massachusetts members) and $15 for non-members.
