Business Wire, Oct 26, 1998

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

WHO: The Western Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (WMLEC) 27

member agencies, hosted by the Springfield Police Department.

WMLEC member agencies, State Rep. Paul Caron, WMLEC Chair Chief

Richard Marchese of the Longmeadow Police Department, as well

as representatives from Cerulean Technology, Bell Atlantic

Mobile, the Corporation for Public Technology, and other public

officials who helped secure funding for WMLEC's wireless mobile

information system provided by Cerulean and Bell Atlantic

Mobile, will be present.

WHAT: A demonstration of Cerulean Technology's PacketCluster Patrol

wireless software. PacketCluster will link patrol officers of

every WMLEC member department with critical law enforcement

information from the field using Bell Atlantic Mobile's

wireless data network.

WMLEC representatives will provide supporters, fellow law

enforcement professionals and other audience members with an

explanation of how the system works, including mobile access to

multiple databases, car-to-car communication and data/messaging

encryption.

With PacketCluster, each WMLEC department will have patrol

car-based laptops linked with local, state and national law

enforcement databases, providing officers in the field access

to potentially life-saving crime data. Currently, 15 WMLEC

member departments, including Springfield, are successfully

using the system.

The PacketCluster Patrol demonstration will also enable other

police departments and the press to see the high tech and

safety advantages of the PacketCluster Patrol system's laptop

and briefcase devices.

The press conference is planned to recognize those who helped

secure funding for WMLEC's mobile information system.

WHERE: Springfield Police Department, 130 Pearl Street, Springfield,

MA 01104.
