ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998--
USi Manages Siebel Applications over the Internet for Sagent
Sales and Marketing
USinternetworking, Inc. (USi), the first and leading Internet Managed Application Provider(SM) (iMAP), today announced that Sagent Technology of Mountain View, CA, is its first Enterprise Relationship Management (ERM) customer. Sagent selected the USi ERM Solutions Suite powered by Siebel to expand its sales contact management and market forecasting capabilities.
"Sagent will gain significant competitive strength by fully automating its lead generation and sales cycle processes through the USi solution," said Tom Lounibos, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Sagent. "By leveraging USi's services, our sales and marketing teams will be able to focus on the core aspects of the Siebel solution. They will be able to strategize, coordinate and evaluate their efforts without the worry of network administration. USi's world-class infrastructure, applications management and round-the-clock customer care enable Sagent to take immediate advantage of these capabilities. And the scalability of USi's iMAP solution will provide a seamless transition to higher levels of service as our company continues our aggressive worldwide growth."
By signing on with USi, Sagent becomes the first company to use Siebel applications outsourced over the Internet. "It's not surprising that a highly competitive company with an acute understanding of technology and business would choose an outsourcing model," said Christopher R. McCleary, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for USi. "It's the smart option for companies that want high-end capabilities quickly without extensive time and resource investments up front. USi, as the first company to provide the iMAP service, is proud to have Sagent as one of our lighthouse customers."
"The fact that a respected high-tech firm like Sagent has enlisted USi's iMAP services validates industry predictions that companies are making the strategic move toward outsourcing their business process applications so that they can focus on their core business," said Jeff Narucki, Senior Analyst with Progressive Strategies. "USi has been at the forefront of this shift--they've built their entire company around this emerging trend and they're the first to deliver this type of outsourcing over the Internet," he said.
Sagent Technology was founded in June 1995 to make business data more usable by bringing it closer to decision-makers.
