The Mendel Group Announces stratFOCUS Neurology/Psychiatry Expert Panel and Editorial Board

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 5, 1998--The Mendel Group, a health care consulting firm, today announced details on the publication of stratFOCUS(TM) Neurology/Psychiatry Outlook, the second of four stratFOCUS pharmaceutical industry reports being offered by The Mendel Group's strat i(R) Publications.

The report uses The Mendel Group's Rationalization Grid(TM) product pipeline rationalization process and business development tool to select and analyze the best new product or technology opportunities in the neurology/psychiatry market.

Expert panelists will provide specialized in-depth analysis of the scientific, medical and business merits of the technologies and products submitted for review based upon the output of Rationalization Grid. An editorial board will have final review of the publication's content.

Panelists for stratFOCUS Neurology/Psychiatry Outlook include:

Brian Alldredge, Pharm.D., professor in the department of clinical pharmacy, school of pharmacy, and clinical professor in the department of neurology, school of medicine, at the University of California, San Francisco. A specialist in epilepsy, general neurology and clinical pharmacy, Alldredge is a frequent national lecturer and author of many papers and journal articles relating to the field of neurology.

Peter Davis, an independent consultant specializing in the health care industry, specifically pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and health care delivery companies. Davis previously served as vice president of MMC International, a health care consulting firm in Stamford, Conn.

At SRI International, a health care consulting firm in Menlo Park, Calif., he was involved in several projects for the central nervous system (CNS) market. While at SRI, Davis assisted in the privatization of EGIS Pharmaceutical, a leading Hungarian pharmaceutical company. He also worked as an assistant director of market research at Syntex Laboratories, a pharmaceutical firm in Palo Alto, Calif., and was worldwide marketing director for Smith, Kline and French Laboratories (now SmithKline Beecham) in Philadelphia, Pa.

Glen R. Elliott, Ph.D., M.D., associate professor of child and adolescent psychiatry, director of the Pervasive Development Disorders Clinic and director of child and adolescent psychiatry at the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute at the University of California, San Francisco. Elliott is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Psychiatric Association.

He is the senior associate editor of the Journal of Child & Adolescent Psychopharmacology and serves on the editorial board of Archives of General Psychiatry. Elliott is the author of numerous articles concerning psychiatry and psychopharmacology.

David Jacoby, Ph.D., M.D., an instructor in neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston and a consultant in neurology at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Md. Jacoby has an extensive bibliography of publications in journals such as Neuron, Neuroreport and The Neuroscientist.

Tom Keller, owner and president of Tom Keller and Associates, a health care consulting firm. He previously worked at G.D. Searle & Co. as senior director of marketing, where as part of his responsibilities he was in charge of CNS product management. Keller was voted Medical Marketing Advertising Marketer of the Year in 1988 by industry colleagues.

Daniel Langleben, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in psychopharmacology and a fellow in nuclear medicine at the division of nuclear medicine, department of radiology, at Stanford University Hospital. One of the few psychiatrists in the United States with formal training in nuclear medicine and radiology, Langleben's research focuses on functional brain imaging (MRI and SPECT).

Langleben was an attending psychiatrist at the East Bay Community Recovery Project in Oakland, Calif. and the house physician at Talbieh Mental Health Center in Jerusalem. He is the author of several papers focusing on psychiatry and brain imaging.

Howard Schulman, Ph.D., chairman of the department of neurobiology, director of the neurosciences program and codirector of the Stanford Brain Research Center at the Stanford University School of Medicine. A frequent editorial reviewer for magazines and journals such as Science, Nature, The Journal of Neurochemistry and The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Schulman also is the author of numerous journal articles, books and book chapters on neurology.
