Symmetricom Nominates Two Top Telecom Industry Executives to Board of Directors, Subject to Shareholder Approval

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--Symmetricom (Nasdaq:SYMM), a global leader in telecommunications network synchronization, today announced that Dr. Krish A. Prabhu, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel USA, and Robert M. Neumeister, Jr., Chief Financial Officer of Sprint PCS, have been nominated to join the Company's Board of Directors. The appointment of Mssrs. Prabhu and Neumeister is contingent upon shareholder ratification of a proposal to increase the maximum size of the Board of Directors from five to seven members, and their election to the Board by the Symmetricom shareholders. The shareholder meeting to consider these matters will be held on November 9, 1998.
