Janine Turner Signs On For TBS Superstation's First Original Movie; REAPER, Also Starring Antonio Sabato Jr

ATLANTA--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--Janine Turner has signed to star opposite Antonio Sabato Jr. in TBS Superstation's first original movie, REAPER.

Turner will play an Army medical field agent called in to investigate a series of unexplained deaths that may be tied to a computer virus. Sabato plays a doctor who works with Turner to stop the killer program before it is unleased on an unsuspecting public. REAPER is scheduled to premiere on TBS Superstation in March 1999.

Turner is perhaps best known for her role as Maggie O'Connell on the popular television series Northern Exposure, for which she was nominated for an Emmy and three Golden Globes. On the big screen, Turner recently played June Cleaver in the feature film version of Leave It to Beaver. In 1997, she starred in the acclaimed telefilm Stolen Women, Captured Hearts, the true story of a woman kidnapped by the Lakota Sioux Indian tribe in 1868. She followed that up with the 1998 telefilm Circle of Deceit, which she also co-produced. Later this month, Turner will star in the television movie Beauty for CBS.

Turner's other credits include a starring role opposite Sylvester Stallone in the international action hit Cliffhanger, as well as memorable turns in the comedy-drama Steel Magnolias, the epic Tai-Pan and in George Romero's Monkey Shines: An Experiment in Terror.

REAPER is being directed by Armand Mastroianni (He Knows You're Alone) from a script by Rockne O'Bannon (Alien Nation). The movie, based on a novel by Ben Mezrich, is being produced by Stephanie Germain of Stephanie Germain Productions in association with Frank von Zerneck and Robert Sertner of von Zerneck-Sertner Films (Robin Cook's Invasion).
