Third Eye Blind and MTV Team Up to Invade College Campuses With Special Guests Eve 6

Business Wire, Oct 5, 1998

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--

Tour Kicks Off October 24 at The University of Nebraska

MTV will team up with Third Eye Blind and special guests Eve 6 for a fall college tour. MTV's Campus Invasion will kick off on October 24 at the University of Nebraska and will travel to over 20 college campuses across the country throughout the fall.

Third Eye Blind, who will be headlining the tour, has skyrocketed from underground obscurity only a year ago to become one of the biggest touring bands in North America. The San Francisco-based band's self-titled debut album is rapidly approaching triple platinum, and their newest single "Jumper," is closing in on the Top 5 on the Alternative Rock charts and is currently Top 20 in national airplay. "Jumper" is the band's fifth single off a debut album that has remained on the Billboard Top Albums chart for over 75 weeks, and produced such anthems as "Graduate," "Semi-Charmed Life" and "How's It Going to Be." Third Eye Blind has emerged as one of music's top live acts, headlining their own enormously successful "Bonfire Tour" in summer 1998.

Eve 6 will be special guests on the tour in support of their soon to be platinum acclaimed debut album. Their first single, "Inside Out," is currently flying up the Pop charts while maintaining its hold on the Number One Alternative position for three non-consecutive weeks - the first time ever for the Billboard Monitor Alternative chart. The video for "Inside Out" has spent ten weeks as a featured MTV Buzzworthy clip and has spent 16 weeks in heavy rotation on the channel.

MTV will launch the tour with a kick-off special on Thursday, October 22 at 7 PM (ET/PT) that will feature brand new videos from Third Eye Blind and Eve 6, as well as interviews with the bands, and information about tour dates and purchasing tickets. In addition, highlights from the MTV college tour will air as special programming segments on MTV throughout the fall.

MTV's Campus Invasion will also feature a free, daytime interactive festival where students will have the opportunity to preview new music videos from their favorite artists, experiment with computer generated music applications, play interactive music games, and to audition for MTV shows.

In addition, as part of an ongoing partnership between MTV and the Kaiser Family Foundation, Lifebeat and the Kaiser Family Foundation will participate in the daytime festival and will make sexual health information and materials available to students. -0-
