Giga Information Group and Arthur D. Little Announce the Winners of the 1998 Chairman's Choice Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998--Giga Information Group and Arthur D. Little today announced the winners of the annual Chairman's Choice Awards. The awards recognize new products using power supply or power management technology that represent a significant leap forward in the evolution of the industry.
The awards recognize leading work in three categories: Applications, Components, and R&D Technology. Dr. Brian Barnett, vice president and director of Battery Studies at Arthur D. Little, Inc., presented the awards on October 5, 1998, during the POWER '98 conference in Santa Clara, Calif.
The Applications Award was given to Ericsson for Ericsson Virtual Office. Intel, Microsoft, and Toshiba Corporation were jointly awarded the Components Award for ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface). The R&D Technology Award was presented to Intel, Ericsson, Nokia, IBM and Toshiba for their combined effort on the product Bluetooth.
Last year's winners included Philips Mobile Computing Group's Velo 1, Sanyo's Prismatic Lithium-ion cells with aluminum casing, and Moli Energy's Mn based Li-ion cell.
