Horace Mann Extends Employment Agreement With Kardos

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Horace Mann Educators Corp. (NYSE:HMN) Board of Directors announced it has amended its employment agreement with Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Kardos.

Kardos' prior agreement, which was announced in 1996, would have expired on July 31, 1999. The agreement has been amended to extend the term by two years to July 31, 2001. No other material terms of the employment agreement were altered.

Kardos joined Horace Mann in 1977 and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1982. He was elected Chairman of the Board earlier this year. He began his insurance career in 1962 at what was then the Insurance Company of North America (INA), working in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh before moving to Horace Mann.
