BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1998--
LapLink(R) CE Is the First Remote Control Software Designed for
the Handheld PC Professional Edition Software
Bringing the power and usability of the desktop to the handheld PC (H/PC), Traveling Software today announced its plans to support the Windows CE operating system, Handheld PC Professional Edition (the third-generation software from Microsoft Corp. for the H/PC) and Windows CE for the Handheld PC.
Leveraging Traveling Software's patented remote access technology, LapLink CE will bring unmatched performance and ease-of-use to handheld PCs. Traveling Software will ship LapLink CE in December as a free download from the Traveling Software web site (www.travsoft.com) to owners of the recently released LapLink Professional.
With LapLink CE, users can interact with personal and network information such as desktop e-mail and documents, enterprise reporting systems and other legacy applications from a handheld PC at any remote location. True to the LapLink brand, LapLink CE will support adaptive compression, graphical object modeling, seamless Clipboard support, one-button Address Book connections and the same security measures found in its PC counterparts such as screen blanking, mouse/keyboard disabling, and more. LapLink CE will allow users to remotely control PCs running Remote DeskLink, LapLink Professional and LapLink Tech over modem, Internet or remote networking.
"LapLink products are designed to enhance the freedom and productivity of mobile computing by ensuring access to office information and network applications," said Mark Eppley, chairman, president and CEO of Traveling Software. "Products powered by Windows CE, Handheld PC Professional Edition are ushering in a new age of mobile computing that will dramatically change people's expectations of information on demand. LapLink CE will help mold these new expectations by delivering the power of the desktop to handheld PC devices ... and besides, LapLink CE is an awesomely cool product!"
"We are pleased to see Traveling Software creating products that complement Microsoft Windows CE, Handheld Professional Edition," said Jonathan Roberts, general manager, Consumer Appliance Group, Microsoft. "Remote users looking for ways to access their desktop PCs and PC-based applications can look to products like LapLink CE as an option. Support from third parties like Traveling Software will continue to enhance and extend the functionality of the CE platform to meet a broad variety of business needs."
