Business Wire, Sept 1, 1998

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1998--

Sapphire/Integration Module provides a Non-Intrusive, Risk-Free Approach to Integrate Legacy Systems with Web-centric Business

Applications

Conextions, Inc. today announced that it has developed a Sapphire/Integration Module (SIM) that integrates Bluestone(r) Software's platform-independent Sapphire/Web(r) application server framework with Conextions' Expresso Series(tm) legacy-integration solution, in order to support enterprise customers seeking to deploy Web-based business applications integrated with existing legacy application logic and data.

The new SIM, available in the Expresso Software Development Kit(tm) (SDK) for Java, couples Sapphire/Universal Business Server (UBS) with Conextions' ExpressoServer(tm). In doing so, Conextions enhances its Expresso SDK for Java, providing seamless integration with the Sapphire/Web development and deployment environment, and enabling Sapphire/Web developers to easily integrate legacy data with their newly-written Web applications. The new Sapphire/Integration Module is available today, and Conextions and Bluestone are actively embarking on joint sales and marketing efforts.

John Capobianco, senior vice president of marketing, commented, "This alliance further extends the ability of Sapphire/Web to provide a complete Web-centric framework for the core business applications of our largest enterprise customers, including their legacy systems. These customers will appreciate, as we did, the non-intrusive, risk-free approach that the Expresso Series provides, which requires absolutely no changes to the existing legacy systems. In addition, ExpressoServer embodies the same architectural principles of 'industrial-strength' robustness, scalability and availability as does Sapphire/UBS."

"Bluestone has emerged as the clear independent leader in the Enterprise Interaction Management space by harnessing the power of the Web for the mainstream applications common to large corporate customers," said Edward Kodinsky, president of Conextions. "Like our Expresso Series, Sapphire/Web allows distributed, real-time load balancing, yet allows central-point administration and control. We look forward to working with Bluestone to help our mutual customers deploy Web-centric mission-critical applications which continue to leverage their legacy-systems investments."

About Sapphire/Integration Modules

Sapphire/Integration Modules (SIMs) are pre-built, plug-in modules for third party applications that function as add-ons to Sapphire/UBS and provide the ability to integrate any backend data source or business logic engine into the Sapphire/Web deployment framework for seamless integration with other enterprise applications. SIMs are developed using Sapphire/Developer Enterprise Edition or Enterprise Deployment Kit, and run within the Sapphire/UBS architecture. Bluestone currently offers pre-built SIMs for PeopleSoft, Open Market, OM Transaction Systems, Gradient, and Marimba, as well as MQ Series, CICS, CORBA, Java Beans, Tuxedo, and Erwin. In addition, Sapphire/Web enables organizations to internally develop and deploy SIMs customized to their particular enterprise needs.
