Warner Brothers Online and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Choose Del Mar Solutions' ServiceWatch to Improve Network Service, Performance and Reliability

Business Wire, Sept 1, 1998

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1998--Del Mar Solutions' ServiceWatch(tm) has been selected by Warner Brothers Online and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals to manage their network services.

With the increasing dependence on network-based services, companies are turning to Del Mar Solutions to enhance overall network reliability and performance. ServiceWatch has a built-in alert feature that activates and sends a notification to the web master or network manager when the service being monitored has a problem.

Manages Multiple Services Through an Easy-to-Use Interface

ServiceWatch/Browser Edition(tm) employs an easy-to-use interface that can be controlled using any standard Internet browser. Activating the ServiceWatch monitor is as simple as typing in the address to monitor (such as "http://www.delmarsol.com" or "ftp://ftp.mysite.com") and pressing "Start." There is no need to spend weeks learning how to use a complicated, expensive network management platform.

Warner Brothers Embraces ServiceWatch for Top Web Sites

Warner Brothers Online, which operates some of the most visited Web sites on the Internet, selected ServiceWatch to manage its web server farm.

"We have about 150 web servers, and they are running on multiple types of hardware. What we needed was something that could monitor all those servers," explained Robert Gonzales, director of technology at Warner Bros. "We looked at a lot of other tools, but they were more expensive and they didn't have some of the functions of ServiceWatch."

ServiceWatch Notifies Service Problems for Pfizer

"ServiceWatch is the mainstay of how we monitor our Internet systems. We use ServiceWatch to monitor all of our Internet network services," said Gershon Rothstein, systems manager at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. "It notifies us when there is a problem by e-mail and pager, or automatically takes corrective action when there is a failure."

"ServiceWatch discovered a machine that was down and not responding to client requests that we wouldn't have otherwise known was failing," added Rothstein. "We were notified of the failure and the problem was fixed before our customers were affected."

Monitors Network Servers and Web Servers in Real Time

System administrators, network managers, and web masters can use ServiceWatch to automatically monitor their network servers and web servers in real time for performance and availability problems. When problems occur, ServiceWatch notifies administrators before problems disrupt the network, interrupt users and applications.

ServiceWatch offers a variety of options including: -0-

-- E-mail to a site administrator if it takes more than 10 seconds
to download a home page from a web server or if the DNS server is
not resolving host names properly and quickly.
-- Automatically reboot a web server that has gone down.
-- Automatically run a program to page network manager(s) when a
     server has gone down.
