Business Wire, Sept 1, 1998
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1998--
Major Upgrade to Macintosh Page Layout and Design Program Provides Support for ColorSync(TM) 2.5 and Includes a Number of Enhanced Text & Element Features
Multi-Ad Services, Inc.(R) announces the release of Creator2 Version 1.5, the latest edition of its comprehensive design program for the Macintosh that uniquely combines page layout features, drawing & illustration capabilities, and simple image manipulation tools into one user-friendly, fully integrated package. A major upgrade to Creator2, Version 1.5 includes a number of new features specifically requested by both current users of the software and customer prospects as well.
One of the more noteworthy enhancements found in Creator2 v1.5, is the addition of ColorSync 2.5 support. This latest Apple technology enables the software to provide refined color fidelity between the screen display and the final output, as well as greatly improved CMYK generation for color-separating non-CMYK graphics files. Version 1.5 also furnishes current Multi-Ad Creator(R) & Creator2 users with greater flexibility in assembling pages by allowing them to place both CIF, Creator Interchange Format and single-page native Creator2 files using the same mechanisms used for placing graphics.
Creator2 v1.5 incorporates a number of enhanced text features as well. In particular, it features embedding and editing of elements and groups within text, includes multiple character or word `drop caps' functionality, and supports the ability to recognize newly activated fonts while the application is running. The product's new element features include support for grayscale graphics colorization that allows users to specify a single grayscale tint to colorize a graphic element. The software now accommodates the scaling of text in groups. It also includes arrowheads on lines and open paths that can be scaled and modified.
Creator2 v1.5 incorporates an improved user interface that offers users even greater flexibility, efficiency and ease-of use. New features include the ability to set guide positions numerically, a customizable text size menu, and a combined font specs and elements specs palette that allows for additional information to be viewed and modified from a single palette. In addition, Version 1.5 offers a number of keyboard control additions, including the support for page-up, page-down, home and end keys. This upgrade also improves compatibility with the Appearance Manager and MacOS 8.5.
Version 1.5 also features enhancements to Creator2's AppleScript(tm) capabilities, most notably the addition of a new Startup Items folder that can contain multiple scripts or aliases to other applications and files that are launched at startup. In addition, Creator2 now includes a complete implementation of the Creator ACES Apple Events suite that provides for improved integration with other software applications, such as front-end tracking database systems.
Other noteworthy enhancements in Creator2 v1.5 include an auto save function, the ability to keep references to missing fonts, a check for missing fonts preferences capability when printing or exporting, a Web-safe color table option for exported GIF files, and the ability to assign different screen settings to each spot plate.
"Creator2 Version 1.5 is a major upgrade that includes a number of features that were implemented in direct response to feedback we've received from users and prospects alike," said Jill Addy, Product Manager for Multi-Ad Services, Inc. "It truly is a complete solution for today's publishing professional that provides superior performance out-of-the-box."
Creator2 Version 1.5 is currently in BETA testing, with initial customer deliveries scheduled for January 1999. Creator2 carries a list price of $895. Multi-Ad Services will be offering a Creator2 Version 1.1 Seybold Conference special price of $149. Customers who purchase Version 1.1 after September 1st will automatically be upgraded to Version 1.5 version free of charge.
