Company description: Earth Sciences Inc. (ESCI) is a chemical processing, air pollution control and mineral exploration and development company. In 1997, ESCI commenced production of Purified Phosphoric Acid (PPA) at the company's facility in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The company is the only producer in Canada and the western United States. There is a substantial market for PPA in foods, cola beverages, cleaning solutions, fertilizers, fire retardants and metal treatments, among other uses.
ESCI acquired ADA Environmental Solutions -- a company that provides systems that reduce the airborne emissions produced by power plants, oil refineries and other industries. ADA has signed contracts to provide four pollution abatement units to utilities in Wisconsin, Mississippi and Oregon, and has completed a successful test at a major oil refinery. Since ADA's technology utilizes PPA, ADA would become a heavy user of chemicals from the Calgary facility as contracts with additional utilities are signed.
The company has recently developed and is patenting a new chemical blend for flue-gas conditioning -- ADA-341 -- which has shown superior results in both utility and refinery installations. ESCI is also active in diamond and gold exploration, primarily in southern Venezuela, and holds several base and precious metal properties in the western United Sates.
This profile contains forward-looking statements within the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933. Actual events or results could differ materially from those discussed in the forward-looking statements as a result of various factors including but not limited to changing market demand for PPA and other company products, competition and changes in technology, laws or regulations, and other factors discussed in the company's 1997 Form 10-KSB.
