NetVision's Synchronicity Metadirectory Product Line to Support NetWare 5; Synchronicity Brings Multi-Vendor Directory Replication to Novell Directory Services
Business Wire, Sept 14, 1998
OREM, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1998--NetVision(TM) Inc., a privately held company, Monday announced that its complete line of metadirectory products will support NetWare(R) 5, Novell's pure IP server operating system that provides the speed, scalability, and reliability customers require to manage and deploy network applications and resources.
NetVision's Synchronicity products deliver metadirectory functionality to Novell Directory Services(TM) (NDS(TM)). Metadirectory services cross network and application environments, integrating existing directories into a large whole in terms of both management and access.
Synchronicity products not only provide organizations a single point of administration, thereby lowering network management and administration costs, but they also offer IS management the freedom to choose the appropriate network system to meet key IS objectives, such as selecting the optimum groupware product, database application, or application server platform. Each Synchronicity product is built on NetVision's patented Global Event Services(TM) technology, which monitors, sets off, and communicates network events on a global basis across an entire network.
"Novell's strategy for making NDS integrate and manage all major network components is being further realized through solutions we will be offering with NetVision," said Michael Simpson, director of marketing at Novell. "Synchronizing application data like the address book in Lotus Notes can help our customers significantly reduce administration costs and frustration."
In August 1998, Novell and NetVision announced that in the first half of 1999 Novell will resell the entire family of Synchronicity products including, but not limited to, Synchronicity for NT, Synchronicity for Exchange, Synchronicity for Notes, and Synchronicity for NetWare(R) 3, worldwide through Novell's dynamic distribution channel.
Synchronicity products continue to gain recognition by technical experts nationwide. Novell recently awarded the Synchronicity product line Finalist status in its "Get Off Your Apps" contest. In addition, Synchronicity for NT was awarded PC Week's Analyst's Choice award and was named Finalist for PC Magazine's Technical Excellence award.
