E-mail List Server Lyris 3.0 Released; Major Upgrade Features Speed, Security and Usability Improvements
Business Wire, Sept 15, 1998
OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1998--Lyris Technologies Inc. today announced the release of Version 3.0 of its highly acclaimed flagship product, Lyris Email List Server.
Features new to Version 3.0 include: failsafe unsubscribing; sophisticated message scheduling; extensive auditing, tracking, and billing features; anonymous discussions; document mail merging; accurate analysis of e-mail bounces; and dozens of usability improvements. New optional components include ODBC database connectivity, integration with Microsoft IIS security mechanisms, and an automated billing system for sites hosting Lyris lists for profit.
According to Lyris' users, one of the program's most useful features is its failsafe unsubscription system. Competing list server programs get confused when a member's e-mail address changes even slightly; Lyris 3.0 avoids such problems by uniquely coding each subscriber in the mail headers themselves.
Stu Sjouwerman, President of Sunbelt Software, knows the problem well. "We used to run a list server that caused us endless unsubscribe problems. We did our homework and chose Lyris because of (its) advanced features and powerful Web interface. Lyris takes significantly less time to manage, has excellent tech support, and has completely fixed our unsubscribing nightmare. It has paid back for itself many times over."
Others praised the tracking and statistical features in the new version of Lyris, which helps companies stay on top of usage and immediately identify any potential problems. "Lyris probably saves us about $1,000 per month in physical support costs alone, not to mention the confidence of our customers to deliver top products to them." says Christian Vanderbeck of Data Return Inc.
One-time pricing varies depending on options and list traffic, and a free evaluation version is available at http://www.lyris.com/down/. Lyris is available for Windows 95/98/NT, Sun Solaris and IBM AIX.
Lyris Technologies' products include: Lyris, software that enables announcements and discussion groups via e-mail, newsgroups and the Web; MailShield, an anti-relay, anti-spam server-side program. The company also offers an e-mail list hosting service at http://www.lyris.net.
