The key factors that drive an enterprise to choose Java will be examined in an upcoming UC Berkeley Extension course.
"Java for Enterprise" will take place on Friday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Room 2, UC Extension Downtown, 150 Fourth Street, Sixth Floor, San Francisco. The fee for the course is $495. > The course will focus on the key issues, trends and opportunities surrounding Java products and the marketplace. A detailed analysis of Java business products and solutions will be provided. Java market sizing and opportunities, market barriers, key technology and business trends, enterprise Java applications, strategic choices for vendors and customers, potential strategic pitfalls and the steps for formulating a successful Java strategy will be discussed in detail.The course is intended for marketing, sales, technical and IT managers who need real-time information about products, solutions and business opportunities associated with Java. A basic understanding of Java technology, development techniques and related terminology is presumed.
Natalie Shaheen, B.S., will teach the course. Shaheen is president of Netroscope and former marketing research manager at Javasoft. Prior to Javasoft, Shaheen was the strategic analysis manager at Sun Microsystems and has held high-level kernel engineering, marketing communications and corporate strategy positions at Sun Microsystems and Amdahl.
