Dr. Ellen Kitzis Named Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at Compaq Services; Leading Industry Expert Will Play Key Role in Compaq Services Growth Agenda

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1998--Compaq Computer Corporation today announced that Ellen S. Kitzis, Ph.D., formerly Vice President and Worldwide Director of Gartner's Dataquest Information Technology Services Group, has joined Compaq Services as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Dr. Kitzis will report to Compaq Services Senior Vice President and Group General Manager, John Rando.
In her new position, Dr. Kitzis will drive, develop and refine Compaq's overall Services strategy and provide business and competitive analysis and guidance to senior Services management. Dr. Kitzis will identify and contribute to the development of needed competencies, businesses, acquisitions and alliances. She will lead the business planning process for the Compaq Services group. In addition to participating as a member of the Compaq Corporate Strategy and Technology team, Dr. Kitzis will ensure the organization's strategies are effectively communicated to Compaq's customers, partners, industry analysts, and employees.

During more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Kitzis has propelled herself to an industry thought leader in the information technology services field. Well-regarded by her peers, Dr. Kitzis is frequently asked to speak at industry conferences, customer forums and other events on topics from outsourcing, global user needs and trends, to service opportunities in emerging markets. Dr. Kitzis has been published in Computerworld and Service Industry News, and has served as an industry expert in articles in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Directorship Magazine, The Los Angeles Times and several industry publications.
As vice president and worldwide director of Gartner's Dataquest Information Technology Services Group, Dr. Kitzis managed a team that supported the business strategies of more than 200 clients by providing them with a comprehensive, integrated view of the services industry. Prior to that, Dr. Kitzis held other management positions with Dataquest and Dataquest/Ledgeway Group, International Data Corporation, Consulting Statisticians, Inc., and Contract Research Corporation.
Dr. Kitzis earned an A.B. in sociology from Boston University and a Ph.D. in organizational and medical sociology from Tufts University in Boston. Company Background
