ADVISORY/Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Rolls into Bay Area 7-Eleven Stores to Celebrate Anniversary of Big Bite Hot Dogs

Business Wire, Sept 23, 1998

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is heading down the hot dog highway, stopping at 7-Eleven stores in the Bay Area to celebrate another big dog, 7-Eleven stores' Big Bite(R) hot dog.

Ten years ago, the nation's leading convenience store retailer introduced the Big Bite all-beef Oscar Mayer hot dog. It was an instant wiener! Last week, 7-Eleven celebrated a second milestone -- the sale of the 1 billionth Big Bite in San Diego.

The giant 27-foot rolling Wienermobile hot dog will roll into the Bay Area on Tuesday, September 29, and Wednesday, September 30 visiting 7-Eleven stores to celebrate 1 billion-plus Bites sold. Besides handing out the requisite Oscar Mayer wiener whistles at each stop, the Wienermobile will be the main course of a special event planned at each 7-Eleven store visited. Locally, the lean mean wiener machine will appear at the following stores:

Tuesday, September 29

-10 am, 1335 S. Bascom Ave., San Jose, phone 408-286-2312

-1:30 pm, 280 East Main St., Los Gatos, phone 408-354-8280

-4 pm, 1951 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View, phone 650-961-5913

Wednesday, September 30

-10:30 am, 1421 Branham Lane, San Jose, phone 408-265-4112

-1:30 pm, 1674 Foxworthy Ave., San Jose, phone 408-265-5231

-3:30 pm, 39989 Farwell Drive, Fremont, phone 510-656-5568

"The Big Bite has been one of 7-Eleven stores' most popular food offerings ever," says Joe Horres, category manager for 7-Eleven. "What better way to celebrate 10 years and 1 billion Big Bites than to invite the top dog of them all, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile."

The Big Bite and 1/4 lb. Big Bite account for almost two thirds of grilled items sold at 7-Eleven. This summer, 7-Eleven introduced the Biggest Big Bite(R), a 1/3-pound hot dog.
